Owen George Allum was born in a village called Mabe near Falmouth, Cornwall in 1894.
His father, William Allum (b.1865 Bray, Berkshire) was a gardener by occupation who had married Clara Alice Eggleton (b.1867 Jersey, CI) at Wokingham, Berkshire in 1888. Their first child, Stewart was born in Reading, Berkshire in 1889.
Shortly following his birth the family moved from Berkshire to Cornwall and settled at Mabe where William Allum continued to work as a gardener.
Towards the end of 1892 their second child, Chloe was born, followed in 1894 by Owen and in 1898 by Grace Alice.
Sometime following Grace's birth the family moved away from Cornwall and settled at Chislehurst in Kent where they may be found on the 1901 UK census.
