When the terrible news of the fatal accident to the great sea giant who started so happily on her maiden voyage so lately, our prayers and thoughts were especially with one of the passengers, Miss Lily Bonnell, of Welbeck-road, Birkdale, and our sympathies went out to her two sisters in their awful anxiety and grief.

Miss Bonnell was going with a niece on one of her frequent visits to a brother in the States, and only on Sunday evening "Miss Jennie," of Day Nursery fame, was telling me of a letter her sister had sent from Southampton describing the luxurious comfort of her roomy cabin and all the splendid arrangements on board, and saying that she thought this would be the pleasantest trip she had ever made. We little thought that within a few hours' time she would be tossing about in a lifeboat at the mercy of wind and wave, and we trust that they will soon hear of her safety. Miss Bonnell is a member of St. James' Church, Birkdale, and her practical and active interest in all local charities and good works is well known. She is on numerous committees, and an indefatigable helper at the Mary Willett Day Nursery. Hundreds of anxious hearts are praying to God for the news of her safety.
