Henry Baker

Henry Baker was born in Liverpool, England on 17 December 1872 and was baptised in St Peters Church on 3 August the following year. He was the son of Thomas Baker, a butcher, and the former Mary Connolly.

In 1892 he married Marian Ilsley (b. 1872) and they had four children, three surviving infancy, all sons who followed their father into the seafaring trade. By 1911 the family lived at 55 Banner Street in Wavertree.

In April 1912 Baker was serving as a waiter aboard the eastward-bound voyage of the Carpathia when that ship rescued the survivors of the Titanic
Henry Baker continued to serve at sea during WWI and in the following years.

He died in Liverpool on 30 April 1924.
