Cholera Belt

Several bodies of Titanic victims were recorded as wearing Cholera Belts.

In spite of the name, these were not, as is commonly supposed. belts impregnated with chemicals to ward off Cholera, but were rather abdominal supports. There were sometimes just worn for warmth and comfort, and to assist with abdominal ailments such as a hernia.
