NEWPORT, R.I., Aug. 7---Col. John Jacob Astor and his fiancée, Miss Madeleine T. Force, went to the Casino tonight, where Miss Force met many of
the Summer residents and watched the tennis playing. Later Col. Astor and Miss Force played in a mixed tennis match against Miss Beryl Kane and
Lawrence L. Gillespie. The latter pair won.

Miss Force wore a white linen suit, and a large panama hat, and after the playing wore a long white coat.

Mrs. Force arrived later in the day with her daughter, Miss Katherine Emmons Force, to visit Col. Astor and her daughter at Beechwood, and Mr. Force
returned to New York. The party remained at Beechwood to-night for dinner.
