discovery and salvage

Hello, I know there was this idea of using magnets tied to a lot of ships to raise the wreck , but I can't find anything on other project from the period. If other things were proposed to salvage the ship in the aftermath of the sinking, can someone describe them here and if possible post...

I tried to research this but found nothing; just curious if the boiler room has every been explored under water? Or any attempts at it?
