Exact shade of red of Antifouling paint.

So what was the exact shade of red used on The antifouling paint of the Olympic Class Liners? Based on the remnants seen on the wreck, does anyone here have an estimation of what that paint used to look like before it spent 100 years on the ocean floor? I'm workign on a shipbucket drawing and I...

A theory about the "White Star buff" color applied on Titanic's funnels

Hey, everyone! This is the second article I'm writing for this Encyclopedia so once again, I apologize if it's in the wrong section. I was recently reading Peter Davis-Garnier's "RMS Titanic: A Modelmaker's Manual", and in that book, it is stated that the "White Star buff" colour was sometimes...

    Antifouling paint

The RMS Titanic’s antifouling paint, as do ships of today, is primarily made of red oxide. White hull stripe?

A few pictures seem to show a white stripe running the length of the hull. One taken circa 1911 clearly shows it. But no drawings or diagrams show it. Titanic Research and Modelling Association also doesn't mention it. It also looks like the stripe on Mauretania and Lusitania.

    Hull paint

Surviving paint on the Titanic wreck

In 1987 when Dr Ballard gave a slideshow of his dive to Titanic at a THS convention, he showed some still unpublished photos- most impressive to me were areas beaneath the waterline where the red antifouling paint was still there, solid and unfaded. Also in most shots, the officers quarters on...

    OlympicTitanic Exterior paint job

I have noticed that in several pictures of the Olympic's launching, the ship appears white, But in Titanic's photos, the hull is fully painted. Am I just looking at bad pictures, or what?
