In your opinion, what Titanic collectible from the Titanic mania years of 97-98 will be the most sought after collectible in the future? None of these items are being reproduced and become scarcer after each passing year. Do you think it will be the heart of the ocean necklace, the sinkable models, dart collector cards,movie memorabilia, etc...
 
I think the sinkable models are still being made, atleast i seen them recently at the book store with that little book. I dont think the heart of the ocean necklace would be that popular other than to the cameron movie titanic buff`s. Check ebay and see which is going for a moderate price those usualy turn vauable later on cause people buy them since their not too expensive
 
Matt, you might be surprised to learn that the Heart of the Ocean necklace is STILL the biggest seller at the Titanic museum in Orlando. They can't keep them on the display shelf! There is a new model of Titanic, similar in many ways to the one Steve Santini designed to demonstrate how the Titanic sank. This one is motorized and does not sink. Other than that, it looks like Steve's model in every way.

Darren, I believe the pieces of Titanic coal, will remain one of the most sought after items of memorabilia, and the larger the piece, the more valuable. Also collectible will be the china and crystal, as being some of the most identified pieces of memorabilia. Newspaper reproductions also still sell quite well. Original photographs and artwork also remain popular.

I agree with you that the Heart of the Ocean replica by J Peterman is probably the most sought after piece of movie memorabilia, aside from some of the rarer pieces of the grand staircase (I'd personally love to know what happened to the GSC "Honor and Glory Crowing Time" clock)
I must point out though if you're talking about original Titanic artifacts, I believe coal is the easiest to obtain. Ebay has 14 current postings, some as cheap as one or two dollars. I think they over-salvaged that and now it has flooded the market so much, it's worth is near to nothing. I think anyone would agree the highest ranking pieces are the original Grand Staircase carvings taken from the surface and the R4332 OSNC Spode china from the ship.

Chances are that the Coal will go up in vaule say in 30 to 40 years, alot of people will lose it or it will get destoryed and the number out there will dwindle, thats the art of investments. Thats why if you own it pray for fires or the destruction of the item that other people have to make yours less and less common and get put on the rare list, Im still wanting to get the titanic coal but i dont really trust ebay for that unless i can get it for little to nothing but im wanting to build that diorama i have planned before i get the coal.
 
The authentic fabric filled pendants I have are very popular and sell quite well. I've even sold one to an actor and three to "mega name" rock star. They were priced by actual auction sales, then geared back to keep them affordable.

Soon the site will double in size with some recent significant purchases. I hope to include some more cool authentic items for sale within reach of the average collector.
 
Im suprised that a novelty movie prop is a popular titanic collectable. Just dont see a true Titanic fan collecting something from the movie that isnt too accurate that is like a thriller movie based off of a true general event but the rest is just speculation, still is a good movie i will say that.

Im not too big on the old 97 - 98 titanic mainia buying frenzy i did get a good deal of titanic stuff from those years but not for collectable reasions only now am i starting.

Check ebay theres a good number of them not many photographs that are orignal most of them are orignal photographs that are printed on glossy photo paper
 
I have one of the replicas, where would the best place to sell? I can't imagine many people searching for heart of the ocean now surely? Can anyone suggest anywhere else? Thank you
 
The coal is cheap, non-personal, readily available on the seafloor. If it sold that well, you know they'll be back to get more, if only as a side-operation to plucking something far more unique from the seabed. As far as the necklace goes, you need to find a movie nut who is not well informed and knows squat-diddily about the actual events surrounding the dramatic loss in the North Atlantic, that fateful night.
Real "Titanic" historians know the film was about the ship, not the characters.
 
Ha I agree, I was bought it as a present. However feel it's unfair to be so judgeful tut tu ha. You can appreciate both you know. Not either or. Thank you for replying.
