[creaky old voice]In my day we called it 'water jousting'. Oh, it takes me back...[/creaky old voice]

We still play it and still enjoy it: it's a classic. Cheap outdoor fun, too, as there's no specialist equipment or training required unlike going parascending or canyoning... But I digress.

I know of which book Inger writes as well, as I nearly bought it myself, bowing only to her greater Boxhallian need.

Lol! I think you even brought it to my attention, didn't you, Fi? Greater love hath no Titanic bibliophile....

Am v. keen to show it to you as it touches on two of your spheres of influence...it's up in Hull at the exhibition at the moment, but will see if I can get it back in time for Christmas.

Oh dear- I missed your link- but have learned that New York County has 11, 537,195 residents, 8,008,078 in NYC and New York State 19,011,378- no wonder there are no parking spaces!

Yay New York! I would have been just about as happy if San Fran had got the nod, but am v. pleased to see NY get it. Good luck to them in the bidding process.

As I mentioned earlier, it's a long road between here and the final selection, in 2005. I am, as a NJ resident, delighted that NYC got it, but, as the USA has hosted several games in the past couple of decades, I am really not holding my breath about NYC's chances.
