Here is a photo of the grave of Norma DiSandro,4, who along with Carl Watres and Julia Grego, is one of only three victims from the Doria buried ashore.
Norma and her parents, Tuilio and Filomena DiSandro were emigrating to Providence Rhode Island, and survived the collision. In the chaotic evacuation, Tuilio had called down to the crew of a lifeboat to catch his daughter, and assuming that the lifeboat and crew were from the Doria called the instructions in Italian. The lifeboat was not from the Doria, and so the crew were not prepared to catch Miss DiSandro when her parents dropped her down. She struck her head on the lifeboat, received severe skull injuries and died in Boston on Friday July 27 after being reunited with her parents. Norma's name does not appear on the family monument, but cemetery records show that she is buried in this plot.
