A green grand staircase

When I first heard about the green paint on the staircase, done in the 1930's, I shook my head in disbelief. But then I found a pic of the green wood work, along with gold leaf on the relief wood work. Thought it looked cool, so I made an attempt at a color pic. Although I am certainly a lover of the original stained woodwork, I think the green must have looked quite striking, as well! The clock, I think, would have looked amazing!
