an extract from the obituary in yesterday's Times newspaper.(UK).

Quote: "Among his most successful pictures was 'A Night To Remember', his 1950's version of the Titanic story, made in black and white and at a fraction of the cost of James Cameron's multi-Oscar winning 1997 Hollywood blockbuster. Baker's film got no Oscars but, leaner and truer to the facts, it stands up well in comparison."

Ray Ward Baker, film and television director, born Dec. 19,1916. He died October 5 2010, aged 93.

A fantastic film and a fantastic, long life. It's unfortunate that most of the crew from these older Titanic films are no longer with us.

R.I.P., Roy.
