A painting in progress

So, I am currently working of a painting of the Titanic. I decided to show the very last moment, when the stern section is about to take the final plunge. Here is the preliminary drawing; in the top right corner, a little colour study:

Many years ago, I have made tons of sketches and a few somehow finished drawings and paintings of the Titanic. I wasn't really happy with most of them, though ... but now I think I have learned a bit more about drawing and painting techniques as well as about the ship itself, so I felt ready to go for it once again.
