A Word For Our Own Dr Paul Lee

I do not know many of the details and am hesitant to say too much about the little I do know, but Paul's wife did want those who know him to be aware that he is still in the hospital and that it's serious. It sounds as if there have been some improvements, so hopefully that continues. Please keep sending the positive thoughts as I'm sure they would appreciate it.

Hello,

My name is Carly, Paul's wife. I would like to send my thanks to everyone who has spent the time to send nice messages and thoughts to Paul. He has now regained consciousness and though he can't speak yet, he seems to be respondng and seemed to be touched by your messages.

Paul left me in control, so to speak, of his book and email before he was rushed off to hospital, so thanks to everyone who has sent messages directly to him.

I am confident Paul wil pull through this and hope 2009 will be a much better year. 2008 was awful; he had a nervous breakdown in March this year and spent some months away from titanic stuff to recover. The presures of his book haven't helped matters, getting id done in time and trying to sell it. Anonymous threts ghe got when the book was announced didn't help, though these nearly cleared up by mid April. These emailed messages of hate have started to come through again since news of his illness became known (about a week ago). So, please, if whomever is sending these msgs reads this, please stop, you've had your fun.

Kind regards

Carly xxx
Sorry for the poor spelling btw, I am half aslep.

Carly, let me be loud and clear in saying that there shouldn't have been any threats to clear up. Lee's e-book is a wonderful piece of historical research which belongs in the print and e-library of anybody who cares about any of the issues raised by the "Californain Incident."

>>These emailed messages of hate have started to come through again since news of his illness became known...<<

And that's flat out unacceptable! Whoever is sending this sort of drek, if you wish to disagree with the man, that's fine. Reasonable people can disagree but be adult enough and have the guts do so in an intellectually and academically honest fashion which spells out the points you have and the evidence to back it up. We have a Californian folder and numerous subtopics for just that reason.

Threats and hate mail is nothing more then cowardice at it's sorriest and most pathetic worst, especially when the man is down and can't defend himself.

Carly, I recieved your e-mail this morning and I'm happy to see that things are starting to look up. Prayers are not my way, but as always, all my best and hopes that things will continue in the right direction.

>>Sorry for the poor spelling btw, I am half aslep.<<

Don't worry about it. You have a lot on your plate. More then anybody should have to endure at any time, especially the holidays. For whatever it's worth, you and Lee have friends here who care.

I'm a latecomer to this thread, but I would also like to offer my best wishes for Paul and Carly, and hopes for a full recovery. I have a similar background in physics to Paul, and greatly appreciate the clarity of his approach and thorough research in his work.

All the very best,
Paul

Is there any news on Paul's condition? I heard a story about a week ago that he had died in hospital.

So sorry to hear about Paul. My thoughts are with him and his family at this time. There is a great deal of unfairness in this world of ours and Paul's plight is just another example of it.
Please let him have my sincere wishes for a full recovery.

As for the sad sorry bit of cowardice who's sending the hate mail: you should be - but I'll bet you're not - ashamed to call yourself a decent human being- but then why should you?, you obviously don't seem to have the necessary qualities.

The last I heard was that he was starting to improve although only by small bits. Let's just keep the best wishes/positive energy/prayers (Whichever you believe in) coming.

I haven't heard anything from anyone about this since the last update I posted here, so I'm not sure what's going on. Keep positive thoughts.

And keep a tight rein on the rumours. You might be amazed at how much distress they can cause when they're believed when they shouldn't be. When Carly has some news to offer, I'm sure we'll hear about it.

I've just asked Carly for the latest, in view of the rumours. I've also told her to feel free to make no comment, as is her right.

Watch this space!

I didn't mean to cause any offence. I had been in touch with Paul for a few months and he even sent me a copy of his terrific book as a Christmas present. I got that "news" from a friend in the Irish THS. I've since heard from Carly that the stories aren't true, that Paul is making a very slow recovery but he did have a very bad 'scare' just before Christmas. This is probably where source got his news.

Carly has been in touch. She has been unable to keep us up to date, as she has spent a lot of time at the hospital or in a guest house nearby. Here is her description of Paul. It appears he has suffered some kind of seizure, but she gives no details.

"Paul is very slowly improving but he has a glazed look on his face. In truth, he looks like he is on another planet but he does sometimes show glimmers of recognition and understanding. He had a bad scare a few days before Christmas and was lucky to pull through. But at least now he is on the mend."

I'll try to keep in touch.

i got an email from Carly a few minutes ago. she is truly stunned by the amount of goodwill messages and asks that you please be patient if you have sent her a message.

She says that Paul is now showing definite signs of improvement: "he woke up on new years eve and asked when and where he was. He thought it was still December 4th. When i told him that it was new years eve and whether he wanted anything he replied "a beer"."

As for the people who have been sending death threats, she couldn't say much "we contacted the police when they started coming through in spring. The police reached a deadend as the messages were snet through hotmail, yahoo and googlemail accounts from internet cafes so they couldn't be traced. The police said that the messages came from people in many countries like Australia, America, Holland and Ireland, but they couldn't do anyhing more."

So, good news that Paul is finally getting better.
