In James Cameron's Titanic the main characters attend a lively party in the third class general room with Irish music blaring. But many characters in that scene are shown drinking beer.

This to me does not seem accurate as I can not see a way for third class passengers to attain the alcohol.

Anybody want a go at this?

Why not? There was no prohibition in effect and the stuff was available to anybody with the coin to pay for it.

Certainly beer was available in 3rd Class, but not spirits - the shipping regulations did prohibit that.
