AntiFouling Paint

Eric I was wandering if you could assist me with the following matter. I read your article in the Titanic Commutator a few years ago about the 1993 Lusitania expedition which you were a member of.

I recall that you spent a number of hours constructing a lusitania model with Ken Marschall. Can you remember what color the ship`s anti-fouling paint was? If you are not sure, is there anyway of passing this question onto Ken or is there a way of contacting him?.

Any help would be much appreciated I have spent 3 months attempting to find the answer to this. Some say crimson others say bright red. Since ken has painted paintings of the Lusitania, surely he must be the man who knows

It is clear that Testor international orange paint is perfect for the cunard orange funnels. Is there a Testor color for the ship`s waterline?

Regards Omar

Omar:

As I recall (and I'm by no means an expert on colors), the anti-fouling paint appeared brick red from the submarine when it was visible through the sea life covering the hull. Of course, that was nearly ten years ago, and I had more interesting things to look at out the porthole!

If you want to e-mail me privately, I'll send you Ken's e-mail address. I'm sure he'll be able to help you further.
