Hello All,

The Aquitania was in Singapore for several days in November 1941. Any word on whether this was just for dry-docking or sabotage fire or raider alert?

The Aquitania, together with the Queen Mary, called into Singapore Harbour in November 1941 for dry-docking and replenishment of supplies en-route from Australia in the face of growing Japanese threat. Just a month and a half later, CPR's Empress of Asia was dive-bombed and sunk by Japanese Air Force during the Battle of Singapore.

Robert Turner’s “Pacific Empresses” gives the location as “anchored close to Sultan Shoal Lighthouse”. Google maps the Light, it’s 5 miles south of the western tip of Singapore Island in the western anchorage. Wikipedia also covers the ship.

Wikipedia doesn't list the coordinates, though. All they really say is Singapore.

I found the lighthouse (its wikipedia marker was way off). No notes mentioning the Empress of Asia. I'm guessing it was scrapped....??
