Comment: Granted, it was majorly dumb for these people to be where they were in view of what's going on in and around Somali waters, but that doesn't excuse the crime to which they became victims. If this guy is found guilty, I hope he gets the max!​

Piracy Update: Conwartime, Piracy, and Owners' Obligations Revisited

Ministers must provide clearer guidelines on whether private armed guards on UK ships can shoot to kill Somali pirates, if the risk to potential hostages and shipping is to be contained, the foreign affairs select committee says in a report today.

Comment: It says a lot about how attitudes are changing that the debate is no longer seriously about whether or not ships should be carrying armed gaurds, but how and when to use deadly force when crunch time comes.

Just a little hint to the policy makers: The Bad Guys do NOT play by the rules. Keep that in mind when making yours!​
