WWII Ammunition to be Rendered Safe in PNG on Joint Mission

The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator David Feeney, today announced that more than 150 personnel from the Australian Defence Force (ADF), New Zealand Defence Force and Papua New Guinea Defence Force will begin Operation RENDER SAFE, an explosives ordnance disposal activity aimed at unexploded World War Two ammunition in Papua New Guinea (PNG) this week.

Oz sailor dies of gunshot wound on ship

A 28-year-old Australian naval sailor was reported to have died of a gunshot wound on board a defence vessel, HMAS Toowoomba, on Monday. The Mumbai police were not officially informed about the incident till Monday evening, and the time of death as well as the name of the sailor is not known.

Mumbai, Oct 26 (PTI) Australian Defence Department has launched a probe into the death of a naval sailor on board its warship while it was docked in Mumbai, police said today. The internal investigation service team landed in the city yesterday and began investigations into the incident, a senior police official at Yellow Gate police station here said today.
