I managed to get halfway through it and after six years, I still haven't been able to pick it up again. To the writer's credit, the research is very thorough, but the writing style was boring and plodding beyond belief!

Well i admit to maybe skipping a few pages here and there but did go back to them later. I also read a book called The Ocean Railway, cannot remember the author but it's fairly good. Mostly deals with Brunel and Cunard but some good information on White Star and Inman ships in the late 1800's.
