I wanted to ask the best book that deals with the events leading up to, the actual event and the aftermath of the tragic collision between the Stockholm and Andrea Doria. I have just ordered Richard Goldstein's "Desperate Hours" based on reader's reviews but if there are any others, please let me know.

Likewise, I want to ask about the best documentary DVD of the event. In order to show it from both perspectives, it has to be one with good quality reconstruction.

Despite the plethora of books concerning the sinking and dives tot he wreckage, I think Alvin Moscow's book "Collision Course" reflects the most authoritative information based on the contemporary facts. Personal accounts and new photographs are very much prized and valued, but unfortunately, the new books are highly dramatized. PBS's "Secret of the Dead" is a very straight-forward analysis of Captain Calamai's eternal nightmare.
