I remember reading in (I think) Michael Davie's book that BoT officials thought that a ship was possibly the black and white funnelled one seen by the Mount Temple on 15/4/12 and surreptiously scraped the funnel with a penknife to see if it had been repainted recently.
Is this true? What is the source of this?
