When Titanic’s boilers were lowered down to their boiler rooms by the floating crane, they were lowered down on the fore and aft midline. What mechanical method did they use to move the outboard boilers from the centerline position to their final outboard position?

that's a great question, Bob. I just started a thread about something similar to this. Always wondered myself.
