Boxhall Exhibition

So sorry to hear you're under the weather, Inger.

Here's to getting well right quick.

Thank you so much for the messages of sympathy - they really did provide a lift, as did the emails people have sent! I was rather taken aback by all the sympathy. It really is just a cold, but I appreciate the kindness

I've done a bit of scanning - you may be familiar with the CR10 image from 1919 (not a good copy of it either, I might add), but the other one may be new. This is a raw scan that I need to tidy up, but I'm posting it pre-clean up before I upload it to the Boxhall bio.

Hi Inger, Get well soon. I thought I would just mention it, although probably all you Boxhall fans are aware, that there are a few moving shots of him in 'The Making of ANTR'.

This 60-minute film - on the reverse of the DVD of ANTR, features William MacQuitty, the producer and Walter Lord. As you know Boxhall was an advisor to the film and I think the shots of him were taken at Ruislip Lido just down the road here.

Of course, ANTR was made on a shoestring compared to Cameron's mega-production which makes it all the more remarkable. Boxall would have been late middle-age in these shots

Regards Ernie

If you had any idea of how happy those pictures make me...

I'm really glad you're feeling better, too!

Unfortunately I can't afford The Making of... at the moment, otherwise I would have snatched it up long ago.

hey Inger....
those pic's of Boxhall are great.....i loves them......keep them comin......and Ernie thanks for that info......i had no idea that there was some exsisting footage of Boxhall on the making of ANTR......i have the VHS of ANTR but not the DVD...now i'm going to be on the look out for it......thanks

Not a problem - glad you enjoyed them, as dodgy as the scans are!

You're absolutely right about the 'Making of ANTR' shots of Boxhall, Ernie - it's very moving footage, particularly that of him on set turning the ship's wheel.

Have been away for a few days, but wanted to thank you for the pics, Inger. Lovely that the scans are of his entire face (as opposed to the profile) - I'm so used to only seeing "half" of him. LOL! (And, also glad you are feeling better.

(And, thanks to Ernie, too, for the Boxhall/ANTR info.

i now have my copy of the making of ANTR.....
i have seen the footage of Boxhall and wow...i agree the shot of Boxhall turning the ships wheel is touching....one can only imagine what was going through his mind you can almost see by the look on his face he was remembering something.....

i love it....i find it very interesting.....i mean it's not to often you get to see behind the scenes footage of movies made back in the 50's, which is interesting in itself......and then seeing the survivors that were involved......i was just fascinated by the whole thing....i said it before and i'll say it again "wow"
