Britannic

Hello,

I don't know if the deckplans of Titanic sister Britannic excists, but I was wondering if there is somebody who can give me a site about them.

If there are other sites with deckplans about ocean liners I would be thankful to hear it.

ROLLIE: This SORT OF answers your question: There is a partial deckplan of the Britannic available in the book BRITANNIC: The Last Titan (Simon Mills), showing the plans of the Boat Deck, and Decks A/B/C. I don't know of any websites with the plans, but the book is easily found. The plans are printed in a VERY reduced size, but can be blown up nicely either with a scanner or a photocopy machine. It is fun to try and find all of the differences between her and the Titanic. The book itself, although only 53 pages plus appendix, is well written and the photo reproduction and selection is excellent. Defintely a great thing in a small package.

Hi Jim,

Are there many differences between Britannic and Titanic deckplans?? I think I will search for the book. I don't know if you also have it, but than we have the possibility to search for the differences between the two ships.

Thanks for the information.

Good evening, Rollie: The ISBN number is 0-946184-71-2 Published by Waterfront Publications 463 Ashley Road, Parkstone, Poole, Dorset BH14 0AX U.K. As for the differences, yes, I can see quite a few. However, I don't know when exactly this plan fits into the Britannic's history, so I can't say whether or not it represents the ship as built. My guess is that this might have come from "The Shipbuilder" as the plan says "For Description,See Page 273" on it in a way similar to plans I HAVE seen in reprints of that magazine. Tell you what. If you can't get this from the publisher, or through Amazon, let me know and I'll send you a photocopy of the plans. JIM

Good evening to you too Jim! Thanks for this information. I was allready looking at Amazon.com, but that site really didn't give any information. So I gonna check the publisher. I hope it helps. When the English book is allready published many years ago it might be unavailable here in the Netherlands. I'll let you know if that's the case.

Greetings and thanks again,

Rollie

Hallo Remco,

Thanks for the great sites!! You're right, the book is hard to find in the Netherlands. I've searched for it and now a publisher is going to look if he can find the book for me. It will be difficult.

BTW, It seems that I've discovered a real maritime artist. Like Kathy said, your artwork about Britannic is beautifull!

Thanks and much greetings Rollie

Hi Remco,

Real art must be recognised. In my opinion you have exceptional art: there are not much pictures from Britannic. Keep painting and drawing!!

Remco:
Your drawings are fantastic. You have the talent to publish a good book, ala Ken Marschal. Tell us more about yourself. I couldn't find a biography in the "Introduce Yourself" section.
