Hi Mary,

If you look at the Deck Plans on this web-site, C-22, 24, 26 are forward on the port-side. You will see 5 groups each of 3 rooms with a bath-room. C-22, 24, 26 are the 3rd group aft.

I hope that helps

An interesting anomaly has just come to my attention. In his book "Titanic The Canadian Connection", author Alan Hustak has the Fortune family assigned to cabins C-22, -24 and -26. I believe he is in error, since this web-site shows them to be on the starboard side in C-23, -25 and -27 and the Allison family on the port side, based on the Cave List.
Meanwhile, when are we going to see the C Deck diagram marked interactively as are some others?

Hello Robert,

Looking at the copy I have Hustak seems to have a few room numbers that differ to those given on the Cave List. Page 56 he has Partner in E-58 and Colley in E-63. - The Cave List has Partner listed as C-142; Arthur Gee for E-63 and Colley for E-58.

In my copy [page 26] he has the Fortunes listed for C-23, 25 and 27.

All,

I know Hustak has suggested that the Allisons also spread out into cabin C24 after boarding. Aside from my research, I also spoke to Don Lynch who feels there is no indication that the family took the 3rd cabin. As far as he can gather, the 6 of them stayed in C22/C26.

Hello Lester and Daniel
My interest is in the Fortune family only, so I will pass on the Allison family in 2 cabins or 3. However, Lester, it appears that you and I have two different editions of Hustak. I went back to check and my book definitely says C22, 24 & 26 both on page 26 and in a foldout diagram facing page 96. Verrry interesting. BTW my edition was published by Vehicule Press of Montreal in 1998. I am trying to get in touch with Alan - this will certainly spice up our conversation.
Ciao

Hello Robert,

I also have a Vehicule Press edition. Copyright Hustak 1998. I have just looked and the foldout diagram does say C-22/24/26.

OK. My guess is there was a second printing which corrected the error on p26, but missed the repeat error on the foldout. I am certain that he erred on my p26, because he shows the Allisons in C22-26 on page 51.

Robert & Lester,

I fetched my copy of the book, which was signed and sent to me by Hustak. In the flap of the front cover is still the card that he sent me which reads:

Daniel,
A third revised and
corrected edition is coming
out in April, so you may
discover a few errors, which
I believe have already been
caught. .....
So it is quite probable that Robert you have the 1st edition, while Lester and I have the 2nd edition. I wonder if anyone has the 3rd edition which was meant to come out in April 1999 I think.

Regards,

Daniel.

My wife just gave me a present - my own copy of Alan Hustak's book, but despite her best efforts, it is the same first printing as the one I began with, which was a library loaner. So I am no further ahead.
