Cabin bathrooms

I've never seen the big piece, nor examined it. I wouldn't know what markings there are that verify the piece to be from the starboard side. Going by the windows though, the piece could have only come from one of the 3 aft bathrooms (on either side). If it is definitely from the starboard side, then it can only be from C83/C85, where the toilet was on the left hand side, and the bathroom on the right.

The identification of C79/81 was aided by the existence of part of D deck (which has now been cut off to form the second 'big piece' for touring exhibitions). As Scott pointed out, the portholes for the toilets were slightly smaller than those for the bathrooms - this can be seen very clearly in photographs (pre-sinking) taken from outside the hull. Other photographs of this particular 'big piece' show just as clearly that (viewed from 'inside') the larger (bath) port is the one on the left, as we would expect from the deck plans. Maybe that small piece of steel bolted to the rib to the right of the bath port is part of the shower screen?

Boy, am I red faced..I should have remembered that Bob, the D deck partition- once part of the 'glass room' does not have a port side counterpart- so that, plus the odd numbers on the porthole rims helped determine the starboard side origin of the Big Piece...

The odd thing is, to my eye, is that the two smaller lavatory portholes on the Big Piece have always struck me as being of equal size......

Regarding the 2 pipes that were above each porthole of the adjacent lous- At least 1 pipe has since vanished- such are tha hazzards of the Big Piece being shipped from city to city...
