Hi Richard- am ancient enought to have seen this one. One Step Beyond was the show, hosted by John Newland and based on true stories. The episode-one of 50- was called "The Night of April 14th". All episodes are in the public domain and are available on VCR and DVD at Amazon.com. You can see some of the shows on

Another lady saw the episode and has written about her experience at

TimeTunnel debuted in Sept. 1966-the episode on Titanic was called Rendez-vous with Yesterday and starred Michael Rennie as Capt. Malcolm Smith. Stills can be found on the Irwin Allen network site-click on "episodes"- it was TV's most expensive series at the time.

Oh, Sharon, some of us - well, I shouldn't speak for others - ADORED "Time Tunnel". I myself got hooked on it as it came on just a few years after George Pal's wonderful movie of "The Time Machine", hit theatres. That REALLY sold me on Sci-Fi.
This should give you an idea roughly of how ancient I am. But hey - you're only as young as your friends! ...I am ancient!

Best regards,
Cook

Pat - like you, I loved Pal's 'Time Machine'. Were you aware of the planned Pal sequel, which ended up as the novel "Time Machine II" by Pal and Joe Morhain?

What did you think of the 'remake' this last year? Me? No where near as good as the original!

Trivia buffs- here's one for you! On Feb. 27th, 1983 a primetime program aired with an episode about Titanic. The central figure in the series which was a weekly show was named Phineas Bogg. His sidekick was a 12 year old boy, Jeff. Name the show and the starring actor. Hint: Time travel is involved and a pocketwatch glows red when something has "gone amiss" in history. What? You want a prize? How about a freezer full of orange Dreamsicles?

Hey Bill!

NO, I had NO idea about the sequel to Pal's "The Time Machine". It's a shame that no sequel was made - I thought the original cast was marvelous (My favorite was the third Morlock on the right).

I didn't catch the new version but I'm sure I will once it hits the small screen. Did you ever see the 1970's made-for-tv version, starring John Beck. Rancid.

Best regards, O M
Cook

Fudgesicles are in the mail Rosanne! This bunch is SHARP-will have to dig deep into the trivia bag. Yes, it was tragic about JonErik Hexum- the shooting accident reminded me of the more recent 1993 death of The Crow's Brandon Lee. Of course the inevitable cover- up scenarios are still percolating- murder, suicide, etc. VOYAGERS was mostly intended for young people as a way to stimulate interest in history but the old folks were tuning in too. Sad it only ran a season.

I also loved Time Machine as a child!
Remember the Titanic episode well.
Also liked the episode of Pearl Harbor when Tony sees himself as a small boy!!!

Shelly, Forgot that was Michael Rennie as the Cptn.!!! The Day the Earth Stood Still is one of my fave Sci-Fi flicks!!!
All the best, Don

Pat -

Yes, I did see the made-for-TV version, though at the time wasn't able to tape it. I don't recall too much about it - but I don't recall the feeling of "Where the heck did that come from?" which the new movie gave me.

"The third Morlock on the right" - hahahaha!

I also adored the original Time Machine movie. For those others who enjoyed it try reading a book by Stephen Baxter called The Time Ships, which is a sequel, and brilliantly written too!

Oh, I mean it's a sequel to H.G. Well's book, not the movie.....
