Charles Valdemar Jensen

I'm writing a book about the Danes aboard Titanic and am currently researching the only Danish crew member, Charles Valdemar Jensen of whom little is known. Apparently (see info below), he lived at this address in Southhampton, does anyone know if this was a boardinghouse for sailors?

Mr Charles Valdemar Jensen, 25, was born on Copenhagen, Denmark.

When he signed-on to the Titanic, on 4 April 1912, he gave his address as 17 Morris Road (Southampton). His last ship had been the Atrato. As a saloon steward he received monthly wages of £3 15s. He was the only crew member from Scandinavia

Jenson died in the sinking, leaving a widowed mother Maren Justine Christine Jensen (neé Mikkelsen), a sister and two brothers. The Mansion House Fund paid £20 and later £60 to his mother. She later received a further £80 in compensation.

His body, if recovered, was never identified.

Hello Mette, 17, Morris Road, The Polygon, Southampton was, in 1912, a boarding house, or Bed and Breakfast establishment where you got a good clean bed and a hearty breakfast for not much money.
Today the house still stands, largely unchanged.
Good luck with your research.
