Christie's auction 1 June 2006

Christie's is apparently having an Ocean Liner auction at New York on 1 June. There's an online catalog christies.com/LotFinder/search/lotsummary.asp?intSaleID=20152

A Titanic memoriabilia auction was held Thursday at Christie's. Selling were a Molly Brown medal, Titanic White Star Line flag, "S.S. TITANIC" and "LIVERPOOL" nameplates, a Titanic deck plan and other ship items. See the Forbes link:

Hi Trevor, I was a phone bidder and managed to purchase some nice pieces of White Star china. I also tried to purchase the Carpathia medal, but the selling price of $10 200.00, with buyer premium, was just out of my price range. On the White Star Line end there where deals to be had, specialy when it came to the china. As far as the Titanic items, the prices stayed pretty average. One set of lifeboat plaques sold for $60 000.00, with buyers premium, and the other sold for
$72 000.00.

Hi Rene! Congratulations on your winning bid! I, unfortunately, was unable to attend. I am, however, currently negotiating a sale on the Britannic stateroom cabinet.
Would anyone know what the hammer price was (if sold) on the Olympic fire place mantel from the late Ken Schultz collection?

Hi Trevor, good luck on the Britannic cabinet, hope you get it, what a nice piece that will be to add to your collection. As for the Olympic fire place, it was a pass at $1500.00 I don't know what the reserve was on it.
Regards
Rene

Dear Rene, Thank you for that figure; such a paltry sum for an item like that. I have been having trouble replying to your email but am hoping the message just sent went through.
