I read an internet article about the Carpathia that said Clive Cussler found the wreck in 1999. I thought he wrote books. I didn't know he was an oceanographic explorer, too. Is this true?

Clive Cussler has put much of the money he makes from his books into underwater archaeology. He formed an organisation called NUMA (the same as the imaginary organisation in his book.

Wow, I guess NUMA's not imaginary anymore is it?

Nope, It's just that the real one is a private organization rather then a government agency...which probably explains why they tend to find what they're looking for.

Join the club! Trouble is, everybody who's tried to find the wreck has come up goose eggs. The oceans of the world are a mighty big place. The wonder of it is that even with halfway decent records that anyone manages to find any of these wrecks at all.
