Conspiracies programme

Did anyone watch the Conspiracies programme on Sky 3 last evening. 'Did the Titanic sink in 1912'. I stumbled across it by chance.

How they can peddle Robin Gardiner's rubbish, beggars belief. That man would try and convince you black was white. What I think of him is unprintable.

The programme was an example of very selective statements with initially Bruce Beveridge and Steve Hall seemingly supporting the theory.

Thankfully they did put the opposing view in the end. That's one new book I won't be buying

Actually, the Beveridge/Hall title is one you will want to buy because it very effectively nukes the whole premise that Gardiner put forth. Steve Hall presented one side and then worked with Bruce to present the rebutting points and evidence. Quite a few of the photos they used are from their own collections.

I am sure Steve and Bruce's book is excellent.
It was Gardiner's new book I was referring to. It was mentioned in the programme but it may not be on the shelves yet. My fault, I did not make that clear. Apologies to Steve and Bruce.

It's been there and gone. The first one ended up on the shelves over ten years ago, and everything Gardiner has written has been going along with the same thing. If you really want to get a copy, you should be able to find one on the used books websites. See http://www.titanicbooksite.com/GardinerRobin.html for more information on what he has out there.

If there's a new one coming out, I've yet to hear of it.

A new book was mentioned but the programme may have been an old repeat. Steve and Bruce were interviewed so I would have thought it was a recent production. Does anyone know?

Ernie, as far as I know, this program aired for the first time almost two years ago. It's hardly all that new. Mark Chirnside was interviewed for this same program but regretably, the material wasn't used.
