Hi,
There are two records to consider - East and West. The Mauretania first took the Eastbound from Lusitania in 1907, and held solid the Westbound from 1909 to July of 1929 - losing it by small margin to the NDL Bremen. Mauretania could not have won in July '07 as her second trials and maiden voyage did not take place until November of that year (she was launched 9/20/06).

Hi,
Am I correct that today is the 100th anniversary of Lucy's launch? According to Mark Warren Lusitania P50, it is. However, I have seen it stated in the media (the UK tabloid newspaper Daily Express made a big song-and-dance about unfortunate things that were connected to 06/06/06, citing that the Lusitania was launched on this supposedly ominous date) that it was yesterday.

Confused

Can anyone confirm the actual date?

Me, I'm going with the Warren book!

All the best,
Lucy

P.S. Happy Birthday Lusitania- gone but Not Forgotten
