Dave Fitzpatrick

Hello All,

I started to look into my namesake (not a relative as far as I know) Mr Charles William N Fitzpatrick a Mess Steward (Engineering) who according to the ET biography survived the sinking using collapsible B and then transferring to lifeboat 12.

Having then followed the links for B and 12 I could not find his name on the list of people from those boats.

Is this simply a case of the poor quality of information from the actual sinking (I have found other people that say where rescued from specific boats but do not appear on the lists for those boats) or is this something else?

I did search the 1912 enquiry results as some of the people saved on B and 12 where interviewed but there is no mention of Mr Fitzpatrick.

Can someone explain the discrepancy for me?

Regards

Dave

Mess Steward Fitzpatrick wrote a letter to a newspaper in 1912, shortly after the disaster, describing his escape on an overturned collapsible boat, 'commanded' by the second officer, i e boat B.
