Deck G layout

M Solomon

I'm working on a book set on the Titanic that's slated for publication in 2012.

I have a question about the layout of Deck G that is difficult to determine from deck plans found on Encyclopedia Titanica and elsewhere.

The basic question is this: Was is it possible to walk the length of the ship on Deck G? Or did the bulkheads prevent one from moving fore to aft with no watertight doors or other passages?

On a related note, does anyone have recommendations on the best place to find readable, accurate deck plans?

Thanks in advance for your knowledge and expertise! Really appreciate it.

The short answer to your question is 'no', for the reason you suspected. The passenger berthing areas at the bow and stern on G deck were isolated at their own deck level, and to get from one to the other you'd need to go up to E Deck, walk the length of the working alleyway on the port side and then back down again.

The most detailed deck plans you'll find online are here:
