Deep Ocean Expeditions 2006 Trek cancelled

Apparently 'Deep Ocean Expedition's" 2006 Trek to the Titanic wreck has been cancelled, because the Russian government has other plans for the Keldysh and Mir subs this year- but methinks DOE will be back out there in 2007 bringing the public down to the wrecksite...It gives me a chance to save my pennies!

Quite true..... and bang goes the expedition to look for more so-called "missing" hull pieces!

It seems to me that the message Tarn wrote above is in reference to the "Deep Ocean Expedition's" 2006 trek. This thread concerns the 2005 trek, hence the title "'Deep Ocean Expeditions' 2005 trek to the Titanic". Am I wrong? If I am, oh well. Just my two cents. At any rate, whether it be 2006 or 2090, I doubt I will ever be able to afford such a venture.

I posted this as a septerate thread, but one of the moderators decided to tack it onto the old 2005 DOE expedition thread...Very strange...

If that's the case, then somebody seperated it again. I wonder what the Russians have in mind for the Akademik Kyldesh and the Mir's?

Maybe they're going to look for the lost log line of the Californian? Now that would be a find as big as finding the Titanic itself.

Nothing quite so interesting, Sam!

"Yesterday we were advised that Gazprom, one of the world's largest oil and gas companies and also a state owned entity of the Russian government, requires the services of the Keldysh and Mir submersibles to undertake urgent work on their Baltic Sea pipelines. Hence the Russian government has commandeered the vessel for work beginning on July 16th 2006."
