Deleted threads or posts

I've been told that the Off-Topic section is a place where members can discuss important issues that are of concern to them. I recently tried to do this, only to have my thread deleted without any explanation. I understand EncyclopediaTitanica reserves the right not to tell its members why their threads or posts have been deleted, but I, personally, would like to be told if one of my threads or posts is going to be removed. There have been times when I've started a new thread and when I return to see if I've got any answers, my thread has disappeared and I'm left wondering why. Did I say something that was inappropriate? Therefore, I think members should be told why their threads or posts have been deleted.

Usually, I think threads are restricted to other marine-related topics or major historical events that are somewhat related to Titanic, the time period, or of equal impact. I’m not 100% on this, but I assume this is along the lines of the truth.
