Lightoller wrote a letter to his friend, stating he knew who committed suicide that night. I'll have to dig it up.

But in the meantime

A really good read on moody. That is a good point in maybe why James never left the ship that he thought he had to prove himself since he was the newest, youngest officer of the wsl fleet. I'm convinced it wasn't moody that shot himself.
