Did the officers remain in touch with passengers?

That gift to Officer Lowe looks truly exceptional. And yes, I realize that Pitman leaving early during the evacuation made him rather less central or memorable to the general survivors.

I remember just one moment of feud when in later years Harold Bride expressed anger and disappointment towards Lightoller's remark in his book where he put blame on Jack Phillips and Bride for not delivering ice warnings to the bridge and which Lightoller called the key reason for the collision. This is more of a fall-out between two former titanic crew members, and I wonder if Lightoller ever reached out to Bride and talked about it. Both of them found refuge in Collapsible B in that night.

Lightoller and Bride had a brief war of words in the pages of all newspapers, the Dundee Evening Telegraph, who had published a condensed version of Lightoller's autobiography. Someone must have tipped Bride off.

Bride and Lightoller were both guilty of getting some of their facts wrong in the course of the argument, which fizzled out after a couple of weeks. Bride was known to find the disaster distressing to talk or write about and probably wanted to just draw a line under everything.

Subsequent print editions of Lightoller's book however had minor edits made to the controversial section regarding the Titanic's wireless. Whether Lightoller chose to do this of his own free will or was pressured into it is unknown.

It would be incredible if evidence of private correspondence between Bride and Lightoller were to be discovered but I am not aware that they ever wrote to one another in the years after the disaster.

I think Seaman Jones from Lifeboat 8, after giving the Countess of Rothes the Lifeboat's plaque with its number on it, stayed in touch with her for years, if I recall correctly.

Yes, until she died, the Countess and Tommy Jones would exchange letters every Christmas. She would always send with her letter to Jones a postal order for £5 which today would be worth a three figure sum.

She also gave silver watches to Jones and steward Alfred Crawford.
