Difficulties with TransatlanticDesigns.com (2021) (Ken Marschall Art)

Hey everybody,

I need your help. I've set my mind and heart on getting a few nice prints of some of Ken Marschall's magnificent Titanic paintings. I know that Transatlantic Designs is the place to turn to.

However, I'm facing some major communication difficulties with the company. My e-mails are either not answered at all or if I do get an answer some major questions are getting repeatedly ignored. So maybe you can help me out here?.

So far, the company has offered me high quality giclee prints in the price range of 300 to 400 USD. However the website also lists unsigned prints for about $25. Sadly, everytime I ask about those affordable prints my emails seem getting ignored. Which leads me to believe they either don't sell them anymore or they simply want to push more profitable sales.

So my burning, still unanswered, questions for you are:

Are those $25prints available at all? / Has anyone been able to get his/her hands on such a print?

What kind of prints are they? (giclee or lithograph?)

Are they available in scaled or original size?

I'm thankful for every bit of information I can get on this matter.

Hello There!

Welcome Aboard, you'll love this site, I sure do!
Transatlantic designs, huh? i reached out to the email given here (in august)
never got a reply, maybe because it's an older (I think) website, they don't really take requests anymore. Sorry!
If anyone can help more, I'd be happy to read

Somebody else here had the same question a while back on this also. I don't think they ever got it resolved either. I was wondering if he decided to retire from the overall general business. Always liked his work and thumb thru his co-authored books often. If you find an answer post it as some here would be interested. Good luck on your inquiry.

Hey everybody,

Thank you all for your moral support. It is almost impossible to get a quick response from TAD. Be prepared to wait anything from 1 to 4 weeks for a response, that is ... if you're lucky enough to get an answer at all.

My advice, make your e-mails short ... the chances for a response were highest when my e-mails were short ... Unfortunately, this still is no guarantee for an answer.

However, over the course of roughly 5 weeks I did manage to get and collect some information which I gladly share with you guys.....

Apparently they are still in business. So, if you want a reproduction of a Ken Marschall painting that is not listed on their (slightly outdated ) 2009-website, you need deep pockets.... because those paintings are only available as giclee reproductions ($295 - $395 each, depending on the size you want).

Unfortunately, if you are looking for more affordable paper prints in the price range of +/- $25 you can only choose from the prints listed on their website.
You still have to fill out their order form but instead of sending it by post you can make a scan or photo of it with your phone and send it back to them over e-mail.

.... Yep, that's about it .... all the information I was able to obtain in 5 weeks

I'm still a bit "in limbo" about how "professional" I believe their business is and how badly I want a Ken Marschall print hanging on my wall .... Given the pace of communication I'm a bit worried about how long it'll take them to ship out an order .... if you catch my drift

... Once upon a time, I had hoped they offer a $25-option for each of Ken's paintings, so I could purchase a few prints all at once and thereby making my flat a shrine to his art ... I guess this ain't gonna happen in the foreseeable future

I initially experienced similar issues in that emails were not answered for approximately 2 months.

However, they have been in regular contact with me email for the past 7 days. I receive at least 1 email from them daily. I am still in communication with them.

You need to email:

[email protected]

As for the cheaper $24.95 unsigned prints, they have the following 3 available (see below) as I was told these can all be purchased as I wanted to buy all 3. I do not know about any of the other unsigned prints on the website, if these are still available to purchase you will have to ask them.

1) Titanic greatest of the works of man.
2) Titanic-the millionaires special.
3) Titanic-Au Revoir to the old world.

Ken’s titanic passage to eternity art print which comes with Ken’s art of titanic book, is sold out and no longer available.

they also confirmed that: “No new paper art prints will be created because we have to commit to large quantities and then store them until they are all sold-out. So, nothing new will be offered in the foreseeable future”

Therefore as someone has mentioned above, if you want one of Ken’s paintings that is not listed on their website currently you will have to buy the more expensive giclee reproduction on canvas. I was told that “almost any painting that Ken Marschall has ever done can be made into a giclee reproduction on stretched canvas”.

it’s not true at all as someone suggested above that they basically ignore questions about the cheaper unsigned prints and want you to buy a more expensive giclee reproduction.

For example I asked about the passage to eternity art print. I was told it was sold out and that if I wanted this I could get it as a giclee reproduction, I was informed of the cost. As I live in the U.K. postage is high. Total cost would be about $390.00 to send to me and I would likely have to pay some extra on top for custom charges. But there was no pressure on me to buy, all my choice.

having seen examples of the giclee reproductions on Facebook and on Instagram, they look totally stunning despite the expensive cost. I’m now currently thinking about ditching some of the above 3 prints that I wanted and buy some of the giclee reproductions instead.

Thank you so, so much for sharing all this information.

I was the one who started this thread and theorised about the "more profitable sales". It wasn't my intention to insinuate that they tried to "PRESSURE" me into buying the giclee reproductions. I'm terribly sorry if it came across this way!

Back then I did believe, however, that TAD wasn't particularly interested in making Ken's other paintings available as more affordable prints.
I admit, when I sought for help here, I was super frustrated and at the end of my ropes. At the time of my first post, 6 weeks had passed and I had only been able to get one response from TAD.

With the information you just shared I understand the whole print/giclee situation even better. So, thank you very, very much for clearing things up for me!

I also totally agree with you... those giclee reproductions look utterly amazing and you should definitely go for it if you have the means and opportunity!

Out of pure interest, what paintings are you interested in?

I have been trying to contact them for over a year for a print. Have not gotten a single reply to 3-4 emails and a Facebook message. The TAD website seems incredibly outdated and defunct. I wonder who runs this business, and if Ken realizes how much business he is missing out on.
