Drawing of Captain EJ Smith from what photograph

I am trying to find the source photograph for this recent drawing of Captain EJ Smith. Any info at all would be helpful...hoping someone will find the pose familiar...as you can see he is seated, in plain dress with cap,-hands clasped with fingers interwoven. Perhaps someone can direct me to a book wherein the source photograph or portrait can be found. Thank you!

Also...I would appreciate any opinions about whether anyone thinks that this is indeed Captain EJ Smith or if someone can identify this man as perhaps another sea captain or actor portraying Capt. Smith. There is no identifying text anywhere on the drawing. It was drawn by my late mother, who would occasionally draw from photographs in books people she found interesting.It really could be anyone but it certainly looks like Capt. Smith to me. The chair looks like a Captain chair, note the one notch at top right of tall ladder back. Any comments welcome. Thanks, Linda
