Hi, Mark: I taped that segment, but as will happened left the tape unlabled, so at some point probably will attempt to get a second copy in the way you suggested. And am still trying to find a complete copy of the 1904 "newsreel" of the Slocum aftermath which was used on another news special a few years back.

With regards to the Lakonia of the early sixties, there is an excellent book called The Painted Ship by David Marchbanks (out of print). It was written in 1964 only a year after the disaster. Jolly interesting and very much in the style of Lord's A Night to Remember.

I'm 59 years old and just today, I learned about the Slocum Fire Disaster. They said in the You Tube Doc that it was eclipsed by the the Titanic 8 years later. I feel for those people and what a shameful accident to have occurred. I can hardly believe none of the companies that contributed to the magnitude of deaths weren't penalized. Just the Captain? So sad ...
