I'm sure that most of you are familiar with the first class carpet fragment removed from Titanic by steward F. Dent Ray. If not, details can be found on my website here: http://onlinetitanicmuseum.com/carpet.htm
I've owned a piece of this carpeting for many years now. Recently, I was moving it to a more proper display case and noticed several tufts had fallen off and were resting at the bottom of the frame. I decided to make up a display similar to one I saw at the Guernsey's auction and I would like to offer it for sale here.
Included will be a bound and flawless pedigree containing copies of handwritten correspondence, letters written by F. Dent Ray to Edward Kamuda of THS, period newspaper articles and a clipping from a Kenneth Schultz catalog where he was selling individual "strands" mounted on wooden planks with a choice of plaque.
I've only made up one display and it contains all of the spare pieces I was able to save. I will not be making any more of these. I don't know what to ask for this, so I'll leave it open for offers. I've tried to be as thorough as possible, but I'm sure you'll all have questions. Feel free to post them here or email me privately.
