The furniture on the Titanic would of course vary depending on the area of the ship where it was located. First Class of course had the best furniture, overstuffed chairs and satin sheets. Second Class on the Titanic rivalled First Class aboard many ships of her time, and the furniture in Second Class was also of exceptional quality. Third Class would have plain furniture such as wooden chairs and stools in the public rooms and plain blankets on the beds etc.
Hi all, I'm not exactly sure if this is appropriate here, but here goes! May seem like a funny questions, but does anyone know exactly how many deck chairs there were on Titanic? I've looked at the cargo lists a few times from a few sources but I haven't been able 2 find out? Someone asked me the other day and it's annoying me!
I wouldn’t worry about whether the question is appropriate for the thread, that’s why we have moderators!

Anyway, while I am not 100% certain of the total number of deck chairs on the Titanic. I have seen several Boat Deck and A Deck Promenade photos that show deck chairs stacked against the deckhouses and there seems to be at least 50 - 100 chairs in these stacks, and the photos only show the particular area on deck where the passenger taking the photo was standing at the time.
I would imagine there would be several of these chair stacks at various points along the lengths of the deck and this would be the same set up on the other side as well.
I know that in order to use a deck chair you had to rent it through the Purser and he would assign you a chair number, and that particular chair would be rented to you alone for the duration of the sailing.
This fact indicates to me that the Purser would have had an inventory sheet listing the total number of available chairs on each deck to list the rented chairs versus the available.
I would check to see if you could find any of these documents, if they survived / existed. I have not attempted this yet as the idea just came to mind while typing this response
Well, now that was highly uncalled for I must say, now only if you would try READING, ever heard of it? you might find the answers to the questions instead of presenting an attitude when someone suggests you do so!
Brian: I didn't mean to offend you, I thought you meant that it couldn't be found out! Sorry if you took it the wrong way, and thanks for the information, I'm going to try and find out now, just for you! And thanks 2 Bob too! loz
