I ask, Ol' Dimpled Curlylocks 'cause I would have posted the link to the item if not. Being a rampant Anglophile and manytime visitor to the sceptred isle- I do believe you CAN do most anything- and if not, present the MOST convincing ruse in that enchanting upper-crust tone which would convince the likes of we mere Colonial upstarts that you could. I would have a word with you about ice cubes, plumbing and central heating, however....

Hi Shell - We do rather have this superior attitude (we usually call it lying!) about being able to do anything. We have to be one of the most eccentric races in the world surely?
I remember a great, great Aunt who wept for days according to the family, when India gained Independence! She took to her room crying "Things will never be the same again!" The same old biddy had never been further than France, where, it transpired, she had remained in her hotel room because "I don't think this place will be my style".
Ice cubes Shelley - can harbour all manner of germs.
Plumbing - if it doesn't sound like "The Second Coming" it's not working properly.
Central heating - That's a new one to me! all this mollycoddling makes for weakness of character

Eccentric- yes- sounds so much better than blazing nutters- barmy, bonkers, etc. The difference between eccentric and crazy is a million quid I am told. Being of 100% pure North Yorkshire stock myself- I'd rather be eccentric-(the Polish moniker is inherited via the altar from the 100% pure Polish Prince)- and speaking of millions- one will need them to purchase service for 8 from the Empress at the going rate-not mention the Hankison envelope.

Shell, A true Yorkshire lass eh - eeh bah gum!
Yorkshire has to have some of the most beautiful scenery ever placed on this planet, those Moors and waterfalls, Bronte country, the Dales.....oh hang it, I'm getting the car out!

Meet me in Whitby at Elizabeth Botham's Tearoom-(upstairs)don't tell anybody- these boatpeople love a scandal! I shall send you a fine photo of little me in my Dracula cape- waxing eccentric on the cliff by St. Mary's- I am a card-carrying member of the British Dracula Society...er..STILL interested in tea-?I never drink-wine.
Since we must have a ship somewhere- there is a firstclass Lifeboat Brigade memorial in St. Mary's near the haunted Abbey- That coast is truly a navigator's nightmare- a real shipeater.

The little boy was Herbert Lawler, from third class. He & his father survived; his mother was lost. (Source: Forgotten Empress, by David Zeni)

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure that I would count Herbert Lawlor as a child, he was fifteen years of age.
Josephine Helen O'Hara was born 16th December 1903 and died when only sixteen years old on 12th April 1920.
Grace Hanagan Martyn died 15th May 1995, I have never been able to determine what happened in later life to Florence Barbour, there are still some members of her mother, Sebena's family living in the far North West of England, but non of them even knew of her existence!
