Is the gilt table in the background Italian Rennaisance, or Victorian revival?

My aunt and I are having an argument.

I say it's got to be a Victorian monstrosity. No way you can have those pretty Queen Anne legs and the dripping flourishes, PLUS that grill work and the escutcheon all on one piece.

Yeah, I know this doesn't quite belong here, but you guys are so smart...

I would say it is baroque. And if the photo is taken in Vatican, it is quite possible, for the buildings in Vatican are also done in baroque style.

It is gilt and monstrous which are typical signs for baroque.

We couldn't decide between baroque or rococco.

Rococco came after baroque and has even more superfluous ornamentation?
 
I am quite sure this is baroque... baroque looks rather majestically and overwhelming, while rococco has more superfluous ornamentation as you say, and it is kitschy and affected. I hope this help
 
I would suggest that it is more 18th century rococo than baroque. Rococo is "lighter" and has a whimsical quality, whereas 17th century baroque is "heavy", dark and sinister.
