Hello, all,
I recently came into possession three Great Lakes vessel photographs, all steaming throught the Soo Locks at St. Ste. Marie in Michigan/Canada. The names are the "Clover", the ___ & B Line "State of Ohio", and ore carrier "S.S. David M. Weir". The "Weir" has a star logo with the letter "H" inside it. The pictures suggest early 1920s. Does anyone know anything about these ships? If you would like to see the photos, I can email a copy to you. I don't want to take up Phil's bandwith and post them here...

Thanks,
Dan C.

Dan -- The "State of Ohio" was, in my recollection, a D&C Line vessel, but the C&B Line also existed. "D&C" was "Detroit & Cleveland" and "C&B" stood for "Cleveland & Buffalo." The "State of Ohio" burned at the C&B Line dock in Cleveland in 1924.

The stack art you describe -- a star with an "H" -- was used by the Hanna Fleet.
