Harold Bride interviews

Dear fellow members,

I found some ancient posts on this forum from members who raised the question if Harold Bride had given any interviews in later life regarding his ordeal on the Titanic. Apart from the interview "Thrilling Story by Titanic's Surviving Wireless Man" that appeared in the New York Times shortly after the tragedy, I am not aware of the existence of any other interviews (either in print or as a radio broadcasting). Does anyone know if such material exists?

Best regards,

Not an interview but Bride did have a brief spat with Lightoller in the pages in a Scottish newspaper during the mid thirties.

This newspaper had printed a condensed version of Lightollers memoirs and Bride took great exception to a comment Lightoller made about Jack Phillips.

Both men then exchanged a couple of "letters to the editor" attacking each others version of events but all in all it is rather tame stuff.

Nevertheless it is an interesting exchange of which I had never heard. For anyone else who might be interested, the letter can be found in Titanic's Officers - Articles - Lightoller Defends the Accuracy of His Titanic Accounts .
