Harold Cottam video

Hi

Does anybody know if there are any videos of Harold Cottam available anywhere? And if so then where?

Thanks in advance

I've never heard of one. If any exists, it would be in an old newsreel from 1912, when he went to the inquiries. After that, he disappeared from the public view.

In 1957, Harold Cottam and Titanic survivors: Edith Russell, George Rowe, Gus Cohen, Walter Hurst, and James Witter, were interviewed for a BBC television documentary about the disaster, and BBC South Today has uploaded the documentary to YouTube (you can click the weblink below to watch it). Cottam's interview is present from 9.24 to 11.47 on the video.

That's right, Thomas. It's a remarkable piece of film.

Interviewed by Peter West, Harold Cottam demonstrates the message he was sending on the Marconi equipment and Quartermaster Rowe describes the scene on the bridge. A moving - indeed thrilling - experience for all Titanic buffs. Also includes the voice (only) of Charles Lightoller, recorded in 1936.

If anyone hasn't seen it yet, please follow Thomas' link. You're in for a treat!
