HI everyone, I'm looking for information on a photograph of Harold Cottam.The photo is on a web site about the 'wireless operators 'the night Titanic sank. The author of this site is Aurora Brynn. Maybe someone could help me contact her, looking forward to a reply.

Thanks Carla, I was hoping to contact relatives of Harold Cottam,I know Aurora Brynn was in contact with descendants of H. Cottam for her article on Wireless Operators, but I'm having no luck contacting her either.

Carla the reason I'm looking for descendants of H Cottam is that recently i purchased a set of headphones mounted in a framed glass box with a small typed note underneath "souvenir from the marconi room RMS carpathia.There is also a photo of Harold Cottam with "Harry sparks Cottam" written in pen on the side. While i'm no expert ,the items appear quite old,so i'm wondering could these have been removed at some stage from the ship, maybe because they weren't operating properly and were kept as an souvenir.

Randel, if you are based in the UK it may be worth your consulting the BT telephone directory on-line. This gives at least 4 entries for Cottams living in Southwell in Nottinghamshire with their addresses and telephone nos. There are several other Cottams living nearby. I expect some of them are related to Harold Cottam who was born in Southwell. I wish you luck in any further enquiries.

I myself have done quite a bit of research on Harold Cottam, and there are so many Cottams in and around Southwell that I think it would really be hit-and-miss as to if one of them is descended from Harold Cottam. They could also be descended from any one of his four younger brothers. Also, the descendants could have moved away from their birthplace, too. Jemma Hyder might be able help you. Thanks, Tony and Carla for your help, I'm based in Ireland but I may try your leads anyhow. I'll try Jemma too. I'm particularly interested in finding the origin of the photo of, Harold Cottam "off the ship", which is included in Aurora Brynn's article on the Wireless Operators. This is a "chopped down " version of the photo that is included with the headphones I purchased.

Hiya, Im a descendant of Harold Cottam and although I dont know too much about my Dad's side of the family, I have an aunt who might know something about the headphones. I'll get my Dad to try and find something out.

Does anyone have a good source for all messages Cottam sent out on the night of the sinking. I see references to him sending a steady stream of messages but in other places contradict that.

I know this is an old post but hoping to find some info on Mr. Cottam as well. I am searching out when he left the Carpathia after the hearings and what berths he had up until WW1. Any luck anywhere??
